1. Establish a consistent bedtime routine.

Make a plan for your time in slumber. Routines are important to HSPs, and bedtime is no exception. A good bedtime routine instills a sense of security, which promotes feelings of relaxation. We can relax much more easily when we know what's going to happen next.

2. Allow yourself plenty of time.

Learn how much sleep you require. Everyone is unique, and your sleep requirements may differ from those of your partner, mother, or best friend. Once you've determined how much sleep you require, make it a top priority. Put yourself to bed earlier! Dishes, the next chapter of the book, and laundry can all be done tomorrow.

Changing your sleeping habits may appear to be a daunting task, and you will not be able to do so overnight. But you can make one small change tonight that will make a big difference.

Meditation teaches you to take a step back and observe your thoughts, feelings, and even physical reactions as separate from your life and "self."

4. Understand Your Triggers

Everyone faces their own set of challenges. As a highly sensitive person, knowing what stresses you out can help you prepare for or avoid those triggers in your life.

Keep a stress journal to record your feelings and the situations that elicited strong negative emotions. Be proactive in incorporating resilience-building practices and removing stressors whenever possible.
